At Explorations Academy, we are proud to be the first school in Whatcom County to integrate Education for Sustainability (EfS) into our teaching and learning model. This innovative approach equips our students with the skills and mindsets necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our curriculum is designed around interdisciplinary themes, or “clusters,” that unite subjects such as science, history, literature, civics, service work, and art. These clusters encourage deep, holistic learning and provide students with a cohesive educational experience. Free from the constraints of standardized testing, our classrooms become vibrant spaces for lively discussions, critical thinking, and big-picture exploration. Explorations Academy takes learning beyond the classroom with over ten field excursions each school year. Our students explore university campuses, professional workplaces, and remote wilderness areas, where they develop leadership, stewardship, and a deep curiosity about the world. These experiences bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world applications, inspiring students to see the connections between their studies and the broader world
